A Brief History of DoorDash
DoorDash was founded in 2013 by Stanford students Andy Fang, Stanley Tang and Tony Xu. At the time, Seamless and GrubHub dominated the market for food delivery services.
However, DoorDash offered to do something a bit different: hire and manage their own drivers so restaurants without their own delivery drivers could deliver food. This was a huge deal for college campuses and suburban areas and helped expand DoorDash to 42 markets.
For their first 200 deliveries, the founders delivered the orders themselves to learn more about about their service.
What separates DoorDash from other competitors, they built their logistics on Artificial Intelligence.

What are people saying about DoorDash?
No DoorDash review would be complete without actual user feedback. Here are what a few people are saying about the food delivery service:
“I’ve been a customer for over a year and totally love DoorDash’s services. I mainly use them on Sundays or when I’m too busy with my toddler to go pick up food myself. I love that they send you updates up until your food arrives, the food always arrives within the timeframe they set, and their app works great. It’s all you need from a food delivery service.” -Ala, brightreviews.com
“Some people say things but so far so good. Food on time, was good, no problem with this company.” -Angel, brightreviews.com
“I’m done with Doordash. They have stood me up for the last time. After waiting 2 hours for my delivery I got a “text” from my “dasher” telling me there was a problem with my delivery and that that Doordash was working to resolve the problem. This is not the first time I have had this problem with Doordash but the service, when it works, is very convenient for me. What is not convenient is not getting my food and instead, delivering me excuses and out and out lies. If you need your food “for sure”–pick it up or try a different service. Doordash is just not reliable.” -Michael, sitejabber.com
“Food never arrived. I received a text, a call (both to inform me the restaurant was running late), and then a second text that the food was picked up. Website said the food was delivered. Funny, it didn’t make it the 0.3 mi to my house. No customer service rep to answer my chat on Fridaynight. Next day…customer service chat was a joke, just excuses and lies.” -Shelli, sitejabber.com
Overall, ratings and comments for the DoorDash app in both the Google Play Store and Apple’s iTunes are positive.
